 About the mural: Â
The “Jesus in Holland” or “Selfie with the Savior” mural is 2208 sq feet making it the largest mural in Holland. The mural was painted in August of 2023. Since then we have heard a lot from the community, walkers, cyclists, drivers, and more. Thank you for your encouraging words. It makes us so happy to hear you are inspired.Â
The majority of the mural took about 3 weeks of daily work. Though many people helped to design and paint the mural the main artist who put it on the wall was Jamie Luttrell of “Unique art by Jamie”.
The Meaning: You probably gathered that the Windmill, tulips, sand dunes, Lake Macatawa Channel, beach, and Lighthouse are meant to represent the beauty of Holland. Less obvious might be that the hands of God releasing a fiery Dove represents the Holy Spirit and His presence in and over the entire city. Central to the mural is Jesus with his arm across the back of a 3D park bench. He represents an invitation to every viewer to engage relationally with Him.
